The last week has been phenomenal on the lake. The crappie are biting very well in depths
of water from 8ft-15ft. We are taking them on minnows and jigs in brush-piles. The bass
have been active as well. You can catch them shallow in depth of 1ft-3ft and also
5ft-8ft. The reason for this is that some of the fish are spawning and others are in
their post-spawn pattern. Both of these patterns will produce fish with many different
baits. I prefer either a lizards (carolina or texas rig) or crankbaits. One thing that I
try to remember is that the post-spawn bass are going to be really slow and sluggish
since they just finished laying their eggs. If I don't get a bit on my crankbait, I will
not leave without trying my slow lizard. You also want to be very careful handling these
fish for they are weak and fragile. Hope this help everyone this week!
